Product deisgn
This project utilizes the combinable and separable characteristics of Minnan decorative tiles, applying them to the design of tea tray forms. By adopting an approach that embodies traditional Fujian aesthetics while maintaining practicality, I try to solve the problems of traditional Chinese tea trays being large in volume and heavy in weight, making them difficult to carry.
Southern Fujian decorated tiles are nostalgic collectibles with strong regional Minnan flavor. This cement-based art form typically features geometric, plant, and animal motifs. The arrangement primarily falls into two categories: individual single tiles that stand alone, and four-tile combinations that form complete patterns.
I also explored ways of modernizing the floral tile motifs, developing a series of stamp demos.
