OVERVIEW

This is a device that transforms pen-drawn pictures into drawing by tilting, finally making unique stickers to store memories of Huntington Library.

The moment when I was at Huntington’s Orientation Gallery, I thought it strange why so many drawing paper on three tables, but only a few paper are used. Thus, I thought if there are some ways to make them more appealing and easier to be used.

Through observation, I found that adults are often more hesitant than children to engage in drawing activities. The reason is that adults tend to carry established aesthetic standards, and if they feel their drawings are “not good enough,” they may experience a sense of embarrassment.

Therefore, inspired by the Wooden Labyrinth Game, I designed a drawing prototype that moves the cursor through tilting. By transforming the conventional act of drawing into a more playful and unfamiliar process, the tool turns everyone into a “beginner,” encouraging experimentation without the pressure of judgment.

Then, I brought it back to the original observation site for testing, and guide the next round of prototype development.

This is my final prototype, the title and stickers on the device work well. Even though I stood far away from the device, audiences were appealed to see and tried it. But before, If I didn't invite them, they might only take a look but not try it.
